I’ve laid out a few points that can help you maximize your earnings from Cashback websites and along the way probably help in clarifying a few myths.
1) Cashback is not guaranteed:
The cashback offered on online purchases made through a cashback website are never guaranteed.
Usually transactions are tracked correctly but there could be instances when they are not and there are quite a few reasons. Usually merchants, place a tracking cookie on your machine when you visit their site. If you have visited the merchant website before and did not go through with the purchase, that information can be stored on a cookie placed on your computer and when you visit the merchant again through a cashback website and purchase the item, it might be considered as part of your previous visit and the merchant in this case may not pay any commission to the cashback website.
That’s just one reason, and because there is always a possibility that these transactions are not tracked, cashback websites cannot guarantee any payments to you. If they are not paid commission then they can’t pay you.
2) Search for the cheapest deal first:
Never base you purchase decision on the cashback offered. As these are not guaranteed, you might end up paying more. Always search for the cheapest deal first and then make the purchase from the cashback website. Remember, cashback is just an additional saving which may or may not pay off depending on if the transaction was tracked successfully.
3) Clear cookies and temp internet files:
Clearing all cookies and temporary internet files from your computer is always a good idea before making the purchase. As explained in point 1 above, these usually cause issues in successfully tracking the purchase. Information can easily be found on the internet or the cashback websites on how to go about doing it.
4) Stick with one cashback website:
Try sticking with one cashback website for all your purchases. Jumping from one to another based on who is paying you more cashback is not a good idea. Reason being you will reach your payment threshold quickly and the website will pay you quickly. You could easily lose track of your purchases and cashback earnings as well when dealing with multiple cashback websites. Usually all these websites work on the same model and the only factor that can distinguish one from another is customer service.
5) Missing Transactions:
I know it can be seriously frustrating when you have to chase for missing transactions or you don’t see the payment in your bank account soon enough. The only reason this happens is because things are getting delayed from the merchant side. Cashback website would be happy to pay you the next day but they can only do this when they get paid by the merchant. Any delays are equally frustrating for the cashback website as it is for you. To be fair to the merchants, they cannot deal with each individual query every day. Consolidation usually happens at the end of the month and if it is getting difficult to confirm whether the transaction was made through the cashback website, the merchant won’t pay for the transaction.
6) Payments:
Always go with cashback websites that try to pay directly into your bank account. The interbank charge can be so high and you could lose one third of your payment at times. This is when payment is made through a cheque or online transfer. We at ApnaCashback.com always try to make cash deposits directly into your bank account. This could in the end save you bit of money. You always have the choice of delaying your payments by asking the cashback website not to pay you. If you are not in a hurry, the money will safely remain your cashback account and you can club it with the future payments. Some banks charge Rs 100 for interbank transfers and if you are getting a payment of Rs 300 from the cashback company then you are better off by asking to hold on to the payment till it reaches Rs 500 or even more
Thanks
